Biography

Katia started her career as a professional Ballet Dancer in Paris. She danced at the famous “Moulin Rouge” and was invited by Roland Petit to appear in the film “Folies Bergère”. She studied Flamenco in the old studios of El Rastro in Madrid with La Quica and toured with the Spanish Company Maria Rosa during “Los Festivales de Espagna.”

She moved to the US in the early seventies where she was invited to teach Yoga at the Elizabeth Arden Fifth Ave Beauty Salon soon to become one of the first personal trainers of New York Manhattan’s glittering Society. For more than twenty years in New York, Katia had a successful career as a personal trainer. Her method of centering through movement excels at developing a sense of self as well as shaping a beautiful body line. Diane Von Furstenberg invited her to write the chapter on exercise for her “Book of Beauty, How to become a more attractive, confident and sensual woman” (Simon & Schuster 1976).

Katia's method originates from years of professional training as a dancer enhanced by years of Zen, Yoga, Tai Chi and Sensory Awareness practice. In 1981 Katia received a ReiKi and MariEl attunement from Ethel Lombardi, the last Reiki master to be initiated in direct line from Mikao Usui, the man who rediscovered Reiki energy in the late 1800’s as an ancient key to universal healing.

In 1993 in Washington DC, Katia created the program "Healing the Body, Mind and Spirit", for cancer patients and their families at the Lombardi Medical Center of George Town University., one of the leading cancer research centers in the U.S. In 1996, Katia made history at G.U.M.C when invited as a healer during breast surgery, she assisted a patient with great success during five hours of total mastectomy and reconstruction.
